The Tompkinsville Lightway is a solar-powered public art installation designed to help anchor Tompkinsville Square as a thriving small business and community district. The structure uses a visual strategy called the “lenticular effect,” allowing the artwork to be viewed differently from two directions, creating a unique interactive experience for visitors and the local community.
Designed to serve as a gateway into Tompkinsville, the installation features graphic artwork by Urechi Oguogu and architectural design by A+A+A Studio. This project is managed by Staten Island Urban Center and funded by NYC Small Business Services and Nonprofit Staten Island. Youth and community engagement support is provided by Con Edison, NYC Department of Youth & Community Development, City Parks Foundation, and Trinity Wall Street
